The path from Mount Ari to the Castle of Skyros is a special place whose cultural significance is not only preserved in legend but remains relevant today. According to the story of Korela, a shepherd ran along this path to warn the village after an extreme weather event had swept away his flock. Long before official warning systems existed, the rapid sharing of information through individuals and strong community ties was essential for protecting lives and livelihoods. Over time, the story of Korela became part of the island's cultural identity and continues to live on through local traditions and Carnival celebrations. Today, the path and its story provide an opportunity to connect cultural heritage with discussions on natural hazards and emergency preparedness, linking the past with the challenges of the future.
